What gets synced
- Your routines, with their settings, order and deletions.
- Your workout history, weight training sets and loads, and records.
- Badges, the groups you joined, and your colour and reminder settings.
- Kept per device: theme, language, volume, sounds and voice, weight unit.
1. Install FitPacer on your computer (optional)
FitPacer runs right at fitpacer.online. To open it like an app: in Chrome or Edge, click the install icon on the right of the address bar; on a Mac with Safari, File menu then "Add to Dock".
2. Turn on online backup on your phone
In the app, open Settings › Backup & sync, then tap "Turn on online backup". FitPacer creates a 20-character recovery code: keep it somewhere safe (Notes, password manager). It is the only key to your data.
3. Link your computer with a QR code
- On the computer: Settings › Backup & sync › "Link to a synced device". A QR code appears, valid for 5 minutes.
- On the phone: Settings › "Add a device" › "Scan the new device's QR code", then confirm.
- A few seconds later, the computer shows your routines and history.
Other ways to link a device
- The other way round: on the phone, "Add a device" › "Show the QR code"; on the new device (if it has a camera), "Link to a synced device" › "Scan the other device's QR code instead".
- Without a QR code: on the new device, "Restore with a code" and enter the recovery code.
- On iPhone, always scan from inside the FitPacer app, not with the Camera app: Safari does not share its data with the app installed on the Home Screen.
When does sync happen?
Automatically: when you open the app, when you come back to it, and every minute while it is on screen. A change reaches your other devices within seconds. The "Sync now" button forces an immediate exchange.
If you edit the same routine on two devices, the most recent change wins; a routine deleted on one device is deleted everywhere.
Security and privacy
- Your data is encrypted on your device before it is sent: the FitPacer server cannot read it.
- The linking QR code sends your recovery code encrypted for the new device only.
- Never share your recovery code: it gives access to all your data.
- To stop, Settings › Backup & sync › "Turn off" (keeping the server copy or not).
Troubleshooting
- "QR code expired": show a new one, it is only valid for 5 minutes.
- "No backup found for this code": check the code (dashes and lowercase do not matter).
- Nothing changes on the other device: check the connection, then tap "Sync now" on both.
- Camera denied: allow it in your phone settings, or enter the recovery code.
